Hedman Hedders has been manufacturing high-performance headers in the USA since 1954. The BLACK MAXX shorty headers (SKU 28173) are designed specifically for the Pontiac GTO, LeMans, and Tempest with 326-455 engines. Hand-welded from quality 16-gauge mild steel, these 1-5/8 in. short-tube headers are coated with the BLACK MAXX Satin Black Ceramic-Metallic finish, which resists corrosion and high temperatures while delivering a sharp aesthetic. The short-tube design maximizes ground clearance and OEM component compatibility while providing a meaningful power upgrade over stock manifolds. The classic 2-1/2 in. 3-bolt gasket-style collector allows bolt-on installation. Some heads may require drilling and tapping of end bolt holes. Each pair includes gaskets, bolts, 2-1/2 in. reducers, and all required mounting hardware. Off-road use only on 1975+ models.
