Description

The CTS Turbo Direct Fit FMIC Kit (part# CTS-20T-MK5-DF) is engineered as a true drop-in replacement for the OEM front-mounted intercooler (FMIC) on the VW Golf GTI MK5 and Jetta GLI MK5 equipped with the 2.0T engine. Installation is bolt-on, requiring no trimming or modification of the bumper and retaining all factory mounting points. The OEM FMIC is sufficient for stock boost levels, but when boost is increased via ECU tuning, it can no longer control charged air temperatures effectively, leading to boost cut and timing pull that reduce available power. The CTS FMIC uses a high-efficiency bar and plate core that significantly reduces pressure drop, allowing the turbo to reach target boost levels with less effort while delivering cooler, denser charged air to the engine for maximum power output. The kit includes 4-ply silicone hoses, a billet adapter to the turbo outlet pipe, and high-quality stainless steel clamps. Cast aluminum end tanks feature mounting points that are cast into the tank — not welded like inferior intercoolers. Core: 23" L x 2" Thick x 16.5" H. Rated for 600+ HP.
